Conference:
"Vector-Borne
Diseases: Impact of Climate Change on Vectors and Rodent Reservoirs"
27 & 28
September 2007 in Berlin
The
Federal Environment Agency is the competent German authority for climate
change and adaptation strategies, it also is responsible for development
of methods
and authorisation of products for efficient pest control in the context
of infection
protection. Thus we are aware of the need to address the issue of the
impact
of the climate change on disease vectors and rodent reservoirs on a
broader
expert level and have organized an expert conference in Berlin.
Since
we are
highly interested in consequences of climate change and possible adaptive
measures,
we have invited international experts who are working in the field of
climate
change and its influence on vector-borne diseases. These experts will
give an
overview of their field of expertise and the state of science and knowledge. The
focus of the conference will be on disease vectors, and a main objective
is to identify
risks as well as areas of action.
The conference also intends
to provide a forum for experts and stakeholders to make contacts
for further networking.
